UNICEF and China have a long history of collaboration. In 1947, China became the first country in Asia to welcome a partnership with UNICEF, and our first programme provided emergency relief services to children. UNICEF is also working with the Government of China to promote partnerships and South-South Cooperation between China and other developing countries for the benefit of the most disadvantaged children. Under the guidance of the Partnerships Specialist, the purpose of this post is to deepen organizational collaboration with key stakeholders, mainly in the public sector, and provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence, to contribute to identifying and strengthening partnerships for South-South Cooperation.
How can you make a difference?
We are now seeking committed and hardworking development professionals to support our work on promoting partnerships and South-South Cooperation between China and countries in Africa and Asia for the benefit of the most disadvantaged children. This entails:
• Monitor and analyse current and emerging issues related to China’s investment in developing countries, particularly Africa
• Work with developing, reviewing and proposing new policies and practices on South-South Cooperation
• Facilitate inter and intra-regional activities aiming at promoting best practices in South-South and triangular cooperation
• Explore opportunities of joint collaboration in supporting child programmes in developing countries
• Build and maintain close relations with the Government of China, civil society, NGOs, private sector, development banks, and academic institutions to promote and implement South-South Cooperation activities
• Explore opportunities with relevant government entities for potential programmes for children in developing countries
• Assess programme results together with the Chinese Government’s implementing agencies and entities
To qualify, you will have…
• An advanced university degree (Master’s) in Development studies, Social Policy, Social Sciences, Programme/Project Management, Business Administration or other relevant field. Exceptionally, a bachelor’s degree with additional work experience may be accepted
• At least two to five years of professional working experience in international development or programme/project development at the national and international level
• Demonstrated experience in building partnerships with governments or knowledge of how government entities function
• Field experience in Africa and/or Asia highly desirable
• Strong advocacy and partnership building skills
• Experience working with the UN or other international development organization is an asset
• Fluency in English and Mandarin
