  • Plan International China celebrates the Fourth International Day of the Girl

On October 13th 2015, Plan International China together with China Child and Teenagers’ Fund, China-Britain Business Council, and Women’s Media Monitor Network held a conference to celebrate the fourth International Day of the Girl and advocate for girl’s rights. The hosting organizations shared key research reports and exchanged ideas on the issue. The conference also invited guests from the media and the business sector to discuss two topics: “how to build a gender sensitive and girl-friendly media environment” and “how to enclose and promote gender equality and children’s rights”.

Plan International China released its ninth “Report on the State of World’s Girls– Girls’ Rights Protection: Uncompleted Work” at the event. The report contains various positive and negative views on the current protection of girls’ rights, and it also includes global efforts to improve the girls’ rights as the expected time for achieving the “Millennium Development Goals” is approaching. At the conference, China Child and Teenagers’ Fund also presented its “Research Report on Education and Development Needs for Chinese Girls”. Other representatives from the hosting organizations also delivered speeches, shared their insights on gender equality and girls’ rights protection.
