A report on child sexual abuse in 2017 has been released by the Girls Protection Fund of the China Foundation of Culture and Arts for Children. The statistics were gathered from media reports based on cases heard by procuratorates at all levels, the public websites of courts, and some verified accounts on social media. The release of the report is intended to focus the attention of society on the severe problem of child sexual abuse and the lack of preventive education. First provincial-level child welfare and childcare division founded in Beijing

On December 20th the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs announced the establishment of the first child welfare and childcare division under the provincial Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs at the press conference. The responsibilities of the newly-founded division include child welfare, child adoption and care for left-behind children and children in difficulty, which were previously taken charge of by several separate divisions. A seminar on international training for child protection took place in Tianjin on the 2nd August, jointly organized by World Vision, the Wuqing District Bureau of Civil Affairs of Tianjin Municipality, the Institute of Psychology, CAS and the China Charity Alliance.
