Hong Kong children’s hospice and another five overseas NGOs receive their registration certificates

Six overseas NGOs picked up their registration certificates in different parts of China over the last few days. One American organization, the America Trade Development Council, and one Madagascan organization, the Asia-Europe-Africa Trade and Investment Alliance Promotion Council, had their representative offices registered in Tianjin. The Chief representatives of these two organizations expressed gratitude to the bureau for their efficient work and support. Four overseas NGOs picked up their registration certificates in different parts of China over the last few days. Two American organizations, Bring Me Hope and the Sino-American Friendship Association, had their representative offices registered in Chongqing. Bring Me Hope was founded in California in 2004, and it is dedicated to improving the lives and futures of Chinese orphans and at-risk youth. It carries out year-round programs to meet the needs of orphans in China, and every July it hosts summer camps in the five cities of Yantai, Chongqing, Nanchang, Taiyuan and Zhengzhou in China. Couleurs de Chine and another two overseas NGOs register in Southern China

Three overseas NGOs have recently picked up their registration certificates in different areas of Southern China. The most well known of the three is the French organization Couleurs de Chine, which registered its office in Guanxi province. Couleurs de Chine was founded in 1990, based on an idea by Françoise Grenot Wang, a French sinologist who worked with the Miao people of Guanxi for over a decade. Initially it functioned mainly as a cultural exchange organization that organized events in France to introduce Chinese culture to the public, but in 1998 it started to work in China, helping children from the minorities of Guanxi province to attend school. The Overseas NGOs Management Office of the Beijing Public Security Bureau issued registration and chief representative certificates to eleven overseas NGOs on August 16. The NGOs include among others the UBS Optimus Foundation (Switzerland), the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (Hong Kong), OVCI-Our Family (Italy), the Recording Industry Association of Japan, the Conference Board (USA) and the Conference of Asia Pacific Express Carriers (Singapore). Yan Dongsheng, the director of the Overseas NGOs Management Office of the Beijing Public Security Bureau, conferred the registration and chief representative certificates to the eleven Overseas NGOs, and congratulated them on the successful registration of their Beijing representative offices. A certificate-issuing ceremony was held by the Administration Office of Overseas NGOs of the Fujian Public Security Bureau. During the event, three Taiwanese NGOs were granted certificates for their representative offices. The NGOs that registered are the Chinese Art of Tea Craft Union, the Chinese Youth Volunteer Association and a chamber of commerce. The Fujian Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, Agriculture, and Commerce also attended the event. According to a representative of the PSB, the registrations of Taiwanese NGOs in Fujian is beneficial for promoting non-governmental exchanges and cooperation in economic and social development across the Taiwan Strait. A workshop on the registration of overseas NGOs in China took place in Beijing on July 28, organized by China Development Brief, with nearly 80 representatives from different overseas NGOs attending the event. Speakers including important figures in overseas NGOs, legal experts and academics took the stage in turn and shared their views and discussed the challenges faced during the registration process. It was recently reported that Plan International, the well-known global organization that works for the safeguarding of children, has successfully registered a representative office in Shanxi province.
